This generation lived through Partition in 1947 — many families walked across the Punjab border with nothing and rebuilt their lives on resettlement land under the Evacuee Property Acts. They built the foundations of modern Haryana under Nehru's India, surviving the zamindari abolition and cooperative farming era.
